My dream project:
The fusion of schools from different countries

Actually I thought quite long about the topic of my „dream project“. But it was clear from the very beginning that my project must have something to do with an interaction of native speaking people. I think involving native speakers in class is the best way to learn a foreign language. And of course new media make interactions with people from all over the world so much easier.

Well, in my dream project – where of course everything is possible (regardless of disruptive factors like time, technical issues and know-how, curriculum restrictions, motivation and so on) I want to create a school that has direct contact to another twinned school . The difference to contemporary twinned schools is that the schools of my dream project celebrate a fusion of each other. Everything is connected to each other and attuned to one another. This fusion takes place everywhere in school:

  • Forming ONE “virtual class”: Two classes merge into one class. These classes contain both students from for example England and from Germany.
  • Pupils share their lessons. For example: While the teacher of the German school teaches about a German prose text, the pupils from the twinned school in England listen, too. (Via Skype, online conferences etc.) They can interfere and contribute just like the German pupils and of course also discuss with them about the topic.

When there is an appropriate moment, a changing of language is of course essential to practice both languages.

  • Pupils share their breaks: Due to the fact that there are no restrictions in my dream project every pupil has got a smart phone with Internet access. And in my dream project the students are highly motivated to communicate besides class with their fellow students from overseas.
  • Same curriculum: To ensure a total adaption the twinned schools must have the same curriculum!
  • Sharing school projects: Yes! In my dream project a “virtual class” can also create school projects! They CAN play theatre together! Why not? When the play takes place in Germany the fellow students from England can be shown on screens. Those screens can be small but also huge maybe they can even move on stage. The play can be witnessed in school but also in the Internet so all parents can watch their child.

I think with technical innovations and new media from today (or maybe tomorrow) nearly everything is possible to establish a fusion between two schools.
